Monthly Wrap Up (August 2012)

It has been a month already? Oh boy where has the time gone?

At the end of each month I write a post containing all the books that I have read in that month. The Gem of the Month is the best book that I read. If, for whatever reason, I read a book but did not post a review, you can find them posted here along with my rating.

Well, this month we had the Olympics. If you were living in the UK at the time it was hard not to get swept up in the games fever. Let's say not a lot of reading was done in that time. That was followed by a reading slump. It was probably connected with the games fever. So I got through fewer books than I meant to at the beginning of the month. However, this month ended with a somewhat spontaneous holiday to Spain. The Internet was broken when we arrived so that was six days of lounging around and just reading. I got through 5 books which definitely help bring my count up. As I got through them in a relatively short space of time, they haven't got reviews yet.

Anyway, I am wittering on. Here are the books that I read this month.
I hit my average of nine books in a month, although one I didn't finish so that probably doesn't count.

Reading Plan #14: Which Book Do I Read Next?













I know I didn't have a Reading Plan last week. That was because it would have been identical as the week before that. I suffered a bit of a reading slump during the Olympics fortnight (it is not every year the Olympics comes to your country) and I kind of got swept up in it. I am slowly getting out of it now.

On the Blog Last Week
I am aware that the giveway says 'Contest Over'. I do not know why it has done that because I set it to end on the 15/9/12 which is the date it still says it is set to on the Rafflecopter website. I have contacted Rafflecopter but it happened yesterday. I didn't expect a response on Sunday. Hopefully I can sort it out soon because people have already entered and I don't want to create a new widget. 

I also was going to have a review up for Unravelling by Elizabeth Norris yesterday as well but my computer deleted it before I could finish editing e.t.c. I haven't had time to re-do it but I expect it up soon. Sunday wasn't a good day for software.

What I Have Just Finished   
Losing Lila (Lila #2) by Sarah Alderson

This was the book that I was reading during the slump and therefore took me 10 days to read. If the Olympics wasn't on I would have probably read if faster as I really enjoyed it. Go check out the Lila series. It is pretty epic!

I got this as an ARC and I am enjoying at the moment. It is one of those books that keeps you on your toes. Normally there comes a point where you think you know where the book is going or how things will pan out. Don't assume anything here.

To Read Next 

This is a very good question. When I'm getting out of a slump I don't tend to stick to my original plan but now I don't know which book to read next. I thought you guys could help me decide.

Stacking the Shelves #11

I am afraid I have some bad news. I am officially in a reading slump. I do not like this but I have sort of realised this from the beginning of last week. I have been reading less and less and I am getting the feeling that I have to read rather than I want to. That is not good. Hopefully I will get out of it soon. In  a couple of weeks time I will be going to Spain for a week, so if I am not back into the swing of things by then I will on that week. Normally I get back into read and think 'why on earth did I stop in the first place?' Give me time. If anybody has any tips that would be great.
 
But any how, I did get some books in the last two weeks. Not many as I haven't been book buying in ages.

Night of the Purple Moon (The Toucan Trilogy #1) by Scott Cramer

From the summary it reminds me of the Gone series. However, seeing as I haven't read that series, it will be interesting to see how this one goes.

I loved Hunting Lila and I couldn't wait to start reading this book. What I have read so far I have really enjoyed but the reason I have been reading so slowly ... look above. It has nothing to do with the book because it has been great so far. I will get through it.

Oh yeah! Action and tension on page two! I am not that far in and I am loving it so far. If you have not read Hunting Lila you have to go and pick it up. It is amazing! And if you have read it, you have to read the sequel as well.

Reading Plan #13












On the Blog Last Week  
I may have managed to get some posts up but I wasn't very chatty last week. I didn't do a lot of blogging and reading other peoples blogs. I blame it all on the Olympics. I have time to write and publish my posts and then I head straight back to watching the games again. When it is over and back to the normal rubbish, I will hopefully be back in the swing of things. The Olympics is also why I am reading really slowly. I manged one book in a week. Hmmm...

Losing Lila (Lila #2) by Sarah Alderson

I have just started this book. Three chapters in and I am already hooked. I cannot wait to see how this one pans out. 

I did receive this book this week and therefore could have done a Stacking the Shelves post but I was a little busy. My family has come down for the Olympics and I didn't have time Friday night. I should do one next week.

Again, like I said last week, I love the Night Huntress series and I am looking forward to Vlad's tale. My friend has already read it and she couldn't stop laughing.

 This is my back up if Losing Lila doesn't arrive. Even if it does arrive it is what I want to read second. My friend read this while we were on holiday. She couldn't stop laughing so I am hoping that is a good sign.

I have read Hunting Lila and I loved it! So I want to try out Sarah's other series. This one hasn't been getting as good reviews but I am looking forward to it all the same.

I think the cover is GORGEOUS! I loved Hunting Lila and I have really excited for the second book. I have high expectations. August cannot come quick enough.

If you have not read Hunting Lila, you should :D. For my American friends it seems you will have to buy imported editions of the paperback (Book Depository does free worldwide delivery).
