Stacking the Shelves #29

Meme Hosted by Tynga's Reviews

I am posting this a little late in the day because I am feeling really groggy right now. Ugh. But anyway I bought a whole load of books recently.

  •  Unremembered (Unremembered #1) by Jessica Brody *Goodreads*
  • Sister Assassin (Mind Games #1) by Kiersten White *Goodreads*
  • Wonder by R.J. Palacio *Goodreads*
  • Pivot Point (Pivot Point #1) by Kasie West *Goodreads*
  • My Soul to Take (Soul Screamers #1) by Rachel Vincent *Goodreads*
  • The Maze Runner (Maze Runner #1) by James Dashner *Goodreads*
I popped into Waterstones for some r and r, as I do, not intending to buy anything except coffee ... and I walked out with three books; Unremembered, Sister Assassin and Wonder. The girl behind the till said it was a good selection, espcially Wonder. I have heard really good things. I have read the first few pages and already I can tell. Sister Assassin is the UK title for Mind Games. I was in half a mind about getting it but it was on offer so I caved. I hope I like it. I don't like the cover though. However I think I prefer the UK cover (above) for Unremembered to the US one. That doesn't happen very often.

Pivot Point I bought spontaneously after all the hype it was getting. And it was worth it. I really enjoyed it. It was simple but that what made it work.

I got My Soul to Take and The Maze Runner in The Works. The Works is a UK bargain books, arts and crafts store. I don't go in there very often mainly because their selection of books is limited. Adult and Teen books are together and there isn't much choice. However the books are cheap. I popped in and saw these two books. They are books that I have considered getting for ages but only now got. £3.52 for two books. Bargain! They are not in pristine condition but you can't get everything. I have heard amazing things about both these series and I am really looking forward to starting them.

Stacking the Shelves #28

Meme Hosted by Tynga's Reviews

Only two books this week. Things have been quiet.

Edge of Dawn (Midnight Breeds #11) by Lara Adrian

This is one of the few adult book series that I am in love with and this book has been an excellent addition to the series as well. I am breezing through this book, when I have time to sit down and read. I wish I have had the past two days off but unfortunately not.

Breaking Point (Article 5 #2) by Kristen Simmons

Finally arrived in the post. Took a while for Amazon to decide when it was coming. I enjoyed Article 5 and I am interested to see where this one goes.

Stacking the Shelves #27

Bought

  • The Indigo Spell (Bloodlines #3) by Richelle Mead *Goodreads* *Review*
  • Tiger's Curse (Tiger Saga #1) by Colleen Houck *Goodreads*
  • Sever (Chemical Garden #3) by Lauren DeStefano *Goodreads*
  • Everbound (Everneath #2) by Brodi Ashton *Goodreads*
  • Hopeless (Hopeless #1) by Colleen Hoover *Goodreads*
I have only read The Indigo Spell so far. I loved it! Richelle Mead is just pure awesomeness.

I have heard many good things about Tiger's Curse. I was shocked to see it on the shelves in a UK bookshop (before I've only seen it online or when I was in America), I just had to buy it. The woman behind the counter said she had received it for review and they wanted to create a buzz in the UK around it but it didn't work. I think we only get buzzes for books that are about to be turned into movies.

While I am not a huge fan of the Chemical Garden series, it has it strong and week moments, I am interested to see how it ends.

Everneath intrigued me. I hope Everbound intrigues me further.

Now I have heard nothing but amazing things for Hopeless. Everyone is saying I should read it. So I bought it on Kindle. I really enjoyed Slammed so I hope it is just as good or even better.

 Happy reading!

Stacking the Shelves #24: Xmas Edition

Meme Hosted by Tynga's Reviews

Woo! It is that time of the year again which means gifts and not a lot of time for blogging. Busy busy busy.

Ok so here are the books I received for Xmas.

Xmas Gifts

  • If I Lie by Corrine Jackson *Goodreads*
  • Don't Let Me Go by J.H. Trumble *Goodreads*
  • Witch Eyes (Witch Eyes #1) by Scott Tracey *Goodreads*
  • Rift (Nightshade Prequel #1) by Andrea Cremer *Goodreads*
  • Enshadowed (Nevermore #2) by Kelly Creagh *Goodreads*
  • Promised (Birthmarked #1) by Caragh O' Brien *Goodreads*
  • Inside Nature's Giants by David Dugan *Goodreads*

Ok normally I do not get non-fiction books but I loved the documentary. Inside Nature's Giants is probably my favourite biology documentary. That is saying something as I have seen many.

I rest of the books are ones I asked for so no surprises there. Normally I react bizarrely to surprise book presents. I normally think "ooh this looks interesting. I will probably read this." and very rarely do. My list is long enough. So I kindly ask for none surprise books gifts. If someone desperately wants to give me a book gift (I have never met such a person), I would provide them with a list. I no, I no odd. But I am an odd person.

I hope everyone had a great holiday (which ever you celebrate) and a happy new year. Bring on 2013 and the great books to come.

Again just a week of books for review. No book buying for me until after christmas. Not long to go now.

For Review

Pieces (Breakaway #2) by Michelle Davidson Argyle

I enjoyed Breakaway and I am looking to seeing how this series continues. Especially when I didn't realise there was going to be a sequel when I finished Breakaway.
