and

Divergent #3 by Veronica Roth
No Cover, no title and no release date!
I am just hoping that book is released in 2013 and I don't have to wait any longer.
The cliff hanger was a killer.

With the exception of the last book, all of these books come out in the first half of the year. I wonder what delights are to be discovered.

Feature and Follow #15

Weekly Meme hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read.
This is a weekly meme where we answer questions and blog hop to find new blogs to follow. You follow me I will follow you back.

Q: What hyped up book do you think was worth all the talk?
There are so many books that I have read because I have heard a lot of great things about them; Vampire Academy, The Mortal Instruments, The Hunger Games e.t.c. I read all these books around about the same time. I found them by typing in 'Amazing YA books'. This was when I was starting out in the book community. These series' came up repeatedly.

The first time that I read a book, which I absolutely love, because of all of the hype that was surrounding it (everyone was talking about it) was Divergent. If you have not read that series yet, you seriously should. It is amazing!

At the end of each month I write a post containing all the books that I have read in that month. The Gem of the Month is the best book that I read. If, for whatever reason, I read a book but did not post a review, you can find them posted here along with my rating.

I managed to read 10 books this month. Considering I have been really busy, I am surprised I have got through so many.

Stacking the Shelves #1

Meme Hosted by Tynga's Reviews

After reading up around the drama that hit the book blogging community a couple of weeks ago, I have decided not to participate in "In My Mailbox" anymore. Instead I have decided to move to Stacking the Shelves where I will be showing what books I have got.

I have only got four books in the past two weeks but this has to be one of the best book weeks of the year so far.

Three books, that I couldn't wait, for in one week!!

Bought from Amazon.co.uk
  •  The Immortal Rules (Blood of Eden #1) - Julie Kagawa *Goodreads*
  • Insurgent (Divergent #2) - Veronica Roth *Goodreads*
  • Black Dawn (The Morganville Vampires # 12) -Rachel Caine *Goodreads*

Bought from Bookshop.
  • City of Lost Souls (The Mortal Instruments #5) - Cassandra Clare *Goodreads*

I have already read The Immortal Rules, Insurgent and COLS. Now I am reading Black Dawn.

You can find my review for Insurgent here.
You can find my review for The Immortal Rules here.

I absolutely love Insurgent and City of Lost Souls. Even though I am in the middle of uni work, having to meet a lot of deadlines and exams looming, I still managed to read both of them in a day each (Not together. Two 500 pages books in one day is a bit much for me). 5 Stars!!!

I am aware that there is an embargo on City of Lost Souls. I was very shocked when I walked into my local bookshop to see a massive pile available. I'm sorry but it's COLS. I wasn't going to wait. Screwed up my plans for that day. I started reading at 15:00 and finished at about 22:00. Could not put it down!! Same could be said for Insurgent. Didn't stop reading until I was finished.

I also enjoyed The Immortal Rules although not as much as the other two books.

As for Black Dawn, not that I don't love Morganville Vampires, but this has been a bit of a crazy week for both work and books. I haven't got round to sitting down and properly reading it. Now that everything has calmed down, I can sit back and read. I have only read a few chapters but I am enjoying it so far.

What books did you get this week?

Book Review: Insurgent by Veronica Roth

Title: Insurgent (Divergent #2)
Author: Veronica Roth
Publisher: Harper Collins
Pages: 525
Release Date: 1st May 2012
Read in : May 2012

Goodreads - Amazon.co.uk/.com - Book Depository

*Warning* Spoilers for Divergent.
One choice can transform you—or it can destroy you. But every choice has consequences, and as unrest surges in the factions all around her, Tris Prior must continue trying to save those she loves—and herself—while grappling with haunting questions of grief and forgiveness, identity and loyalty, politics and love.
Tris's initiation day should have been marked by celebration and victory with her chosen faction; instead, the day ended with unspeakable horrors. War now looms as conflict between the factions and their ideologies grows. And in times of war, sides must be chosen, secrets will emerge, and choices will become even more irrevocable—and even more powerful. Transformed by her own decisions but also by haunting grief and guilt, radical new discoveries, and shifting relationships, Tris must fully embrace her Divergence, even if she does not know what she may lose by doing so.
New York Times bestselling author Veronica Roth's much-anticipated second book of the dystopian Divergent series is another intoxicating thrill ride of a story, rich with hallmark twists, heartbreaks, romance, and powerful insights about human nature.

If there is to be a contender to The Hunger Games trilogy for the Dystopia YA throne, it is the Divergent Trilogy.

To those of you that have not read Divergent, stop reading this review right now and go and read it. It is AMAZING!! (Plus they’re maybe a spoiler or two and trust me it is not a book you want to be spoiled for).

I cannot find the words to describe this book. I don’t think it is possible. Therefore this review may be slightly shorter than my normal length. But it doesn’t mean Insurgent doesn’t deserve just as much praise. Maybe even more.

Straight away we get thrown back into the action. Barely any time has passed since the end of Divergent. All the questions that were left are still playing on your mind and the characters. And before any are answered, more questions arise.

The only thing seemingly solid, in Tris’ life, is Tobias. Oh I love him! Most books I read, when the relationship gets to the level theirs is at by book two, it usually feels too rushed. However here it works perfectly. I am always rooting for them. Tris also grows so much. Her willingness to fight and stand up for what she believes in never fails to amaze me. She is a top form YA heroine, which continues from the first book into this one.

One of my favourite things about Insurgent is the constant action. When you think it is going to calm down, something else happens. You’re constantly kept of the edge of your seat wanting to know what happens next.

You may have read Divergent but I am afraid you are way inferior in knowledge to those who have read Insurgent. Come read it and join us. There is so much more to discover in Tris’ world. I love it! Veronica Roth is only 23 years old. That is only four years older than me; four years isn’t that much when you think about. I don’t think I have the imaginary capacity to create a book like this. For that, I salute you.

With the mystery, the relationships, who is allied with whom, all thrown into a big pot of unknowing what will happen next, you are in for a thrilling ride. Drop everything else. Read this book!

Now I must go and consult the fact that I have to wait a whole year to see how it ends.

Teaser Tuesday #4

My Teaser this week comes from the wonders that is Insurgent by Veronica Roth. I have taken the day off studying to sit back and delve as much of it as I can, before it's back to the books tomorrow. I am currently just over a 1/3 of the way through and loving it so far!

"He leans towards me like he's going to kiss me, then seems to think better of it and leans back, biting his lip. It's a small act, but it still feels like rejection." - Insurgent by Veronica Roth pg. 172

If you want to join in it's really easy. All you have to do is:

  • Get the book you are currently reading.
  • Open up to a random page
  • Share two teasers sentences. Remember to wary of spoilers; don't want to ruin the book for those who have not read it yet.
  • Also write down the Title and Author of the book. So others can read it too. :)

Can't wait to read everyone else's teasers! :)

It's Monday! What are you reading? #1

I decided to participate in this meme because I think it is a good post to have at the start of the week; a nice way to round things up. Plus I am always interested to know what others are reading.

On the blog last week

Really enjoyed this book. Looking forward to reading the rest of the series :D. Review will hopefully be posted soon.
