It isn't easy being the rather overlooked and unhappy youngest sibling to sisters named for the other six days of the week. Sunday’s only comfort is writing stories, although what she writes has a terrible tendency to come true.
When Sunday meets an enchanted frog who asks about her stories, the two become friends. Soon that friendship deepens into something magical. One night Sunday kisses her frog goodbye and leaves, not realising that her love has transformed him back into Rumbold, the crown prince of Arilland—and a man Sunday’s family despises.
The prince returns to his castle, intent on making Sunday fall in love with him as the man he is, not the frog he was. But Sunday is not so easy to woo. How can she feel such a strange, strong attraction for this prince she barely knows? And what twisted secrets lie hidden in his past - and hers?
Title: Tiger Lily
Author: Jodi Lynn Anderson
Publisher: Harper Teen
Pages: 304
Release Date: 3rd July 2012

Before Peter Pan belonged to Wendy, he belonged to the girl with the crow feather in her hair. . . .Both these books are re-tellings of fairy tales. Re-tellings I have noticed are on the increase these days; both fairy tales and mythology. I want to jump on the band waggon and see if I want to stay on. I like the look of both of these books and I am looking forward to reading them.
Fifteen-year-old Tiger Lily doesn't believe in love stories or happy endings. Then she meets the alluring teenage Peter Pan in the forbidden woods of Neverland and immediately falls under his spell.
Peter is unlike anyone she's ever known. Impetuous and brave, he both scares and enthrals her. As the leader of the Lost Boys, the most fearsome of Neverland's inhabitants, Peter is an unthinkable match for Tiger Lily. Soon, she is risking everything—her family, her future—to be with him. When she is faced with marriage to a terrible man in her own tribe, she must choose between the life she's always known and running away to an uncertain future with Peter.
With enemies threatening to tear them apart, the lovers seem doomed. But it's the arrival of Wendy Darling, an English girl who's everything Tiger Lily is not, that leads Tiger Lily to discover that the most dangerous enemies can live inside even the most loyal and loving heart.
From the New York Times bestselling author of Peaches comes a magical and bewitching story of the romance between a fearless heroine and the boy who wouldn't grow up.

Okay, I'm not into the Peter Pan story, but I can sure do with the Frog Prince :) I think I already have Enchanted on my list, but I'll check anyway.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my WoW .
A book isn't for everyone :) Thank you
DeleteBoth of these look really good!!!!! I'm really excited for Tiger Lily and Enchanted looks good too!
ReplyDeleteI love the sound of Enchanted but... RUMBOLD? Seriously? WHAT? They couldn't have thought up a sillier nickname! Tiger Lily is on my wishlist already, I can't wait for that to be released. Peter Pan! Gahh! *runs around in circles*

P.S. On a less sillier note, please consider removing the captcha, it's really NOT needed. Bloggers get barely any spam comments and it makes my life much more difficult to try and type in those stupid letters when I have 100 odd blogs to visit...
Oh I didn't realise that I had it on. It doesn't come up for me when I respond. I agree they are annoying. I'll try and remove it.
DeleteGreat choices!! I LOVE fairytale re-tellings too! I'm a new follower and just wanted to drop by and say hi :) I love your blog!!

ReplyDeleteMy WoW
I really want to read 'Enchanted'- I saw on the recent Book Rat youtube video that it references basically every fairy tale and is everything but the kitchen sink for fairy tales! That intrigued me- I like lots of references!

Here is my WOW! :)
Hi there :) just popping in... Enchanted has such a gorgeous cover! I'm always a sucker for fairytale re-imaginings.
ReplyDeleteI'm also your newest follower :) Here is my choice...
Waiting On Wednesday
I've never read any Frog Prince tales. ISN'T THAT WEIRD? I think it is... I've never had an inclination to read the original or any retellings, yet Enchanted SINGS TO ME. I'll be honest: it's the flipping COVER. It's wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI never liked Peter Pan the movie. I should have no interest, at all, in reading Tiger Lily. WHAT BS THAT TURNED OUT TO BE. I'm a couple chapters in and already digging it. Retellings are DA BOMB.
It's not weird at all. I have only heard the original when I was a kid and nothing else since. And yet I still want to read Enchanted. Really glad that you are enjoying Tiger Lily. Really looking forward to it.
